Performing and having a cold.

Performing and having a cold really don't mix well... or do they? The reception for my performance seemed quite nice considering I'm suffering from a cold.. or the flu. I really can't be quite certain yet, but I'm guessing it's a cold mainly because it's passing quite quickly... then again, I don't actually know if colds do that. Anyway, enough about my runny nose.

But stepping away from sore throats and runny noses back to this years Night of the Arts (Konstens Natt/Taiteiden Yö). Dare I say that this year feels and for all accounts felt like the best one so far, from the mood in the morning when everyone was preparing for the evening and chipping in where needed, to the night itself when all chaos broke loose every now and then... but in a good way. One word describes this night.

Awesome.

Lady of the lake, yes I'm looking at you! You missed one hell of a performance, not just from me, but from two other very talented girls (who's names I would gladly publish right here, but I won't as I haven't asked them). I guess you'll just have to by the DVD instead... :)

Project: Board Game (status update)

I'm going to pretend that I've had a number of earlier posts about the board game I'm making. I haven't so don't look for them, but for the sake of this post let's pretend I have.. I am happy to announce that my board game is getting closer to the open group testing now. Meaning anyone is welcomed to try it. Still adjusting the prototype and whatnot, or should I say prototype-s, as I am currently trying to make it so that I have many prototypes (two) for testing. And the translated cards need to be tweaked some for, before I can produce another batch of them. But so far so good.

The above picture by the way, is a concept image, not an actual photo, but yeah, it does look like that. And it's awesomely fun to play!

...okay, so I just made it up, but it's better to say something irrelevant than not to say anything at all. Or was it the other way around? On a more positive side note, the preparations for "Konstens natt" are going quite nicely. Today, it's official that I will be dressed as a turn of the century bohemian writer. (imagine Moulin Rouge if that helps) Let's just hope I won't scare the children, or my own child for that matter.

That reminds me, in true blogging about birth and death and all the shit in between, I can proudly say that my son is now 1 years old. Technically he's over a year already as his birthday was a little over a week ago, but that's not going to stop me announcing it to the world. Speaking of him, I have to get going now as he's sleeping right next to me and I don't want to wake him.

Creative diarrhea

Yes, it feels like I'm "suffering" from creative diarrhea right now.. I use the word suffering lightly since it's quite difficult to complain... "Oh no, I'm feeling so inspired right now, poor me...". You get the gist.. In other words, no I'm not suffering at all actually.. albeit I'm slightly annoyed at the fact that it's proving to be more difficult to finish a song I've started writing, because new songs keep poppin' up.

I also modified my Ibanez with nylon strings. That was very exciting to try, as the AW is an elecoustic model and isn't designed to maintain the tension of nylon strings, and the bridge was a bit of a bitch to get good, I might have to have a professional take a look at it, so the neck doesn't snap or something when I start playing it more often.


Also, make sure you check out Föregångarna on Konstens natt (6.8.2009) If you happen to be geographically close to Vaasa, Finland that is.. I'm going to be there with my dolls and some other surprises I have stored up on..

Actually the first doll I tried creating, it's just a zombie clown as they have a tendency to follow me around in different shapes, colours and sizes be it on canvas, as an embroidery or in this case as a doll.

Something to blog about

Turns out some of my creations have made it to the almighty internet (link). And it's a good thing too seeing as my own website is in a bit of a flux at the moment, flux in this case meaning "layout done, almost no content yet". And has been so for months, yeah to be honest I just got bored with the layout and started working on something new instead, toying around with some liquid css this time around. I will have to see how it shapes itself later on, and maybe it'll become the new home of Fiinix Design - Volume 3. Though as a friend so nicely pointed out to me, technically it's version 52 or something.

But back to the matter at hand, as I was saying, turns out my creations made it to be the internet, before I even had a chance to display them myself. So to rectify this, here's one photo of Valandil Singollo (the elf doll) that I took for my portfolio. I'll probably post more pictures when I get the the chance, and finish the all the dolls.

The goblin shaman is yet to be completed, I just had it in the exhibition (Ihanko pihalla) to display parts of the work process, albeit a very late stage of the work process.
